FLATE, an NSF-ATE Regional Center for Advanced Technological Education, is the go-to organization for manufacturing and advanced technical education, best practices and resources supporting the high performance skilled workforce for Florida's manufacturing sectors.

 

  • Develop a linked distance learning curriculum system to facilitate delivery of manufacturing and related technologies courses and curriculum in the region.
  • Institute manufacturing related courses that are conducive to nontraditional scheduling times and delivery platforms.
  • Develop a curriculum to teach the soft skills needed for successful employee- management interactions on the manufacturing shop floor.
  • Develop a clearinghouse to disseminate appropriate existing NSF manufacturing and related curriculum materials and activities in the region.
  • Promote manufacturing careers throughout the region.
  • Develop and implement a plan to recruit, encourage, and nurture under represented students in manufacturing programs and careers.
  • Disseminate educational materials and resources to the manufacturing community.
  • Develop and promote articulation agreements in manufacturing and related technological education that reflect Florida’s K-20 educational philosophy.
  • Develop training and educational materials for emerging manufacturing technologies that match projected regional growth needs.
